Private Versailles

"These intimate paintings are about the combination of art and architecture in urban environments. While taking walks around my neighborhood in Long Beach, I like to stop and enjoy the statues in front of the apartment complexes—each building with a different theme and name, like Château Lisa or Château Beth. The accompanying statue is like the personification of the apartment complex itself. After sitting with this project for over a year now, I realized this is a heavy-hearted love letter to my city.

The show is in 3 parts. The first view is street level. The second is inside my own apartment where sculpture and plants coexist together to make this sanctuary space. The third is the actual apartment where the frame is a 3d model of the building and the windows and courtyard is painted."
